They have been running an ambitious and experimental media art programme since 2000. This year the <a href=\"http:\/\/rixc.org\/en\/festival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RIXC Festival<\/a> features the UN\/GREEN exhibition and the conference Open Fields 2019: UN\/GREEN: NATURALLY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCES<\/p>\n<p>I will present on 6th July a talk at the conference with the catchy title: What to make [techno-] art about in the age of ecological collapse?&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"vimeo-player\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/160283938\" width=\"800\" height=\"440\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Video above: Pond Battery by Rasa Smite and Raitis Smits, 2015 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/smitesmits.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smit and Smits<\/a>, curators of the UN\/GREEN exhibition, have been making several installations using microbial fuel cells. I am interested in hearing more about the work, as I experimented with similarly sticky technology in collaboration with Michka Melo in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zprod.org\/zwp\/research\/power-of-the-mud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Power of the Mud<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zprod.org\/zwp\/mudbots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mudbots<\/a> projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RIXC is a Media Art centre based in Riga Latvia.
