Grrr
Installation comprising a vintage hi-fi system and a giant vu-meter.
The speakers play a growling sound that evokes a grumpy prehistoric man. The light bulbs on the vu-meter light-up according to the volume of the growling.
The set-up evokes a techno-phallic totem that expresses the frustrated aggressivity of a male primate, still present in contemporary society.
In the exhibition Grrr + divers, Galerie Justine Lacroix, Marseille, November 2005, the installation was completed by two coloured pencil drawings of a brain and a heart. The symbolic dimension of the organs (mind and feelings) is counterbalanced by the anatomical style of the drawings.
