Zitare 2
After years of struggling to keep the original Zitare 1 tuned throughout the length of a performance, I decided to make a new, more stable instrument. With help of my friend carpenter Rhys, who cut a solid body out of a piece of recycled oak timber, I put together the Zitare 2.
Closely inspired from Zitare 1, Zitare 2 is 35cm long and fitted with a piezo microphone and an electric guitar pick-up. The machine heads are precision banjo types, the aluminium parts cut from a vintage Toshiba broadcast video recorder.
