Refunct Machine @ Repair Acts Bristol
Back from Bristol after a couple of days celebrating repair culture with Repair Acts [repairacts.net].
I installed a ReFunct Machine in Bristol City Hall, an interesting space for a pop-up electronic waste semi-improvised sculpture. People in and out through the day added more functions to the circular device.
The programme continued with a debate on Bristol’s Repair Declaration. The very informative debate involved 16 presenters with a keen interest in repair culture. The debate was set in Bristol City Council’s debate chamber, giving this important topic an unusual gravitas and a chance to appear in forthcoming policies for the city!
Other highlights include a sweet evening on the 140 years old Lightship 55 in the Bathurst Basin, with a performance by Tom Marshall channeling the old woman in him, and a nerdy afternoon in Bristol Hackspace hacking Bluetooth functionality into 1980’s ghetto blasters.
